That’s what I was doing, but I felt like they looked too blobby with no real internal structure. So now I’m trying a combination of displacement and noise.

Sean, which projection do you use to geotag the map? I'm learning to georeference, but using WGS84 the map is a little out of alignment. many thanks!

For this I used an Albers equal area conic but I had to change the central meridian.
