I’m not aware of any revenge you have ensuing so there must be another reason for living well. Which it seems you’re doing

This pic not from a Florence museum but from our bedroom ceiling in the RB&B we’re staying at in the Santa Croce district. Grand time, no Monday Note this week… (Anecdotes galore, not sure they’d fit our usual format.)

Irony of the Internet age: Paris is so literally and comically lousy with Instagramable photos, you can pretend to be one of those people and succeed even when you are doing it as a joke. Fetching plate of food, careless flowers and quaint pitcher, charming vistas, CHECK!

So in two hours it’ll be 3 a.m., and an erratic, unstable, incompetent, ignorant, intellectually lazy, narcissistic, and sociopathic man whose judgment no serious, intelligent person trusts remains in charge of deciding whether or not to start a potential war in Western Asia.

How did America get from impeaching a POTUS over a blow job to having a president who's a credibly accused rapist overseeing dehumanizing concentration camps while coming within minutes of starting a war and it's like, whaddya gonna do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Horace Dediu on iPadOS iPad: bathtub between iPhone: bowl and Mac: swimming pool. Another metaphor from engineer/historian/analyst/poet Dediu. See also his fun and relevant wordplay “A mind for the bicycle” on his Twitter ID.

I’d love to get rid of the 6yr old Renault (diesel) Scenic I use when in France for a Model 3. Not yet as easy as in Palo Alto…

Drove SFO-Toronto-SFO. So over 5k miles for less than $200 and the rhythm of a 15-20 minute charge stop every 2-3 hours was perfect for bathroom/stretch legs/safety/lunch breaks. Just got back from driving across France in an ICE car, and it was painfully low-tech and expensive

Barry Marshall was sure that Helicobacter pylori caused peptic ulcers, but since it was illegal to test that on humans, he drank a Petri dish with the bacteria, developed ulcers within days, treated them with antibiotics and went on to win a Nobel Prize

Theodor Leschetizky was born on this day in 1830. His longest living student was Mieczysław Horszowski, seen here at his April 23, 1990 Carnegie Hall recital, two months before his 98th birthday. Remarkable playing from a great-grand pupil of Beethoven!

We’re up to 78 House members calling for an Impeachment inquiry. At this rate the most lawless President in US history may never be held accountable for his crimes. I gave up on the GOP cult long ago. Hate to say it but I’m starting to feel that way about the ineffectual Dems.

40 years ago I photographed Ansel Adams for a cover, they didn’t use this one! AA was a brilliant photographer, a dedicated environmentalist, and one of the funniest people I ever knew. He wouldn't think what's going on in DC is funny, however, and he would be raising hell!

Longing for the days of configuring "Information Rights Management" in Office 2003 (when it was released) and ran across a explainer. My favorite line: "The server installer is a relatively simple affair." Peak client/server—embrace complexity!
