No, no, I keep going. Slowly because it's uphill and I only have 55 PS, but I'm going.

Side note: It isn't entirely wrong, either - but "some initial indexing" is very misleading, as it turns out. Part of "indexing" is, for example, to extract links. Or to parse meta-robots. That DOES happen after crawl as well as after render, but the statement was too broad.

First things first: Most of the infrastructure has changed since then. Second of all: We hoped that'd be a good, simple explanation of what happens (including in edge cases) but it went down wrong, b/c it was too simplistic. It's very, very hard to explain this parallel process

It's fine, but it ain't easy. Taking driving lessons again was a fantastic decision, 10/10 would do again.

Yes. I think this will only get better with practice.

Also, yes. It's also surprisingly complex and tricky to judge if content is only available when rendered. The best case scenario is easy, but the web isn't the best case scenario mostly :)

That was I/O in 2018. It was a metaphor that went somewhat wrong (:

After not driving a car myself for 13 years, I did get back on the road - today was my first ride without an instructor (I did not just jump in a car and went wild, I prepared...) and it was okay. I'm mind-blown how much automatic behaviours you lose..

I would be careful to overthink this, but *basically* yes. However, in the context of rendering: No. We do skip some things, like rendering, if we see a noindex at crawling for example but we don't really "analyze" if we should render or not, we basically always render.
