This season, the following species are not permitted at any of the Northern California scion exchanges: almond, plum, plumcot, pluot, cherry-plum, apricot, and aprium. The plum bud gall mite (PBGM) Acalitus phloeocoptes is the culprit. Asymptomatic wood could be infected too.

This also applies to all hybrids between plums and apricots, and to almonds. For now the infected trees are found in Santa Clara, San Mateo and Alameda counties.

These are the pictures of plum mite galls I took today at Prusch Park in San Jose. The agricultural inspector was on site and he was labeling infected trees in the orchard. We should be checking the plum and apricot wood as we pick it during the exchanges and before grafting.

Have you seen this bug 🐜? Looks cool, but it's . Take the time to become aware of how to identify this new exotic pest and report any suspected sightings to your local Agricultural Commissioner's office right away.

NO citrus trading at the CRFG scion exchanges already for years. Some chapters and many members order wood from CCPP. They cut and ship every month from their enclosed propagation house. Only this CCPP type of wood is occasionally distributed by some chapters, usually in spring

Yes, the material is visually inspected and no apricots, plums, and any of their hybrids will be there due to the the flower bud mite quarantine. No citrus wood already for number of years due to the HLB and psyllid issues. The state and federal inspectors might be on site
