Your air conditioner is working extra hard today! Keep cool air in by closing curtains and blinds. Avoid using your oven, dryer, and dishwasher until it cools down. If you are feeling uncomfortable use a fan to keep cool instead of lowering your thermostat. Stay safe out there!

Keep your home's AC thermostat programmed to comfortable temperatures throughout the day based on your schedule. Avoid trying to speed-cool your house upon arriving home from work, this will make your system work harder and could end up costing you more.

Because of the ongoing extreme heat, Franklin PUD is seeing power use higher than normal. To help ease the strain on the electric system, customers are encouraged to conserve energy and use appliances during non-peak times. Peak times are 6 - 9 a.m. and 5 - 9 p.m.

Do you know that dirty filters slow airflow through your HVAC system? This makes it work harder to cool your home, which increases your cooling costs. To keep your system running as efficiently as possible, clean or replace dirty filters.

Looking for a reason to BBQ? Here's one. Grilling outdoors instead of using appliances indoors that generate heat, such as ovens or ranges, helps keep your home cool. This also means you don't have to iron 😉 Stay cool out there!
