And Lady Hale is giving a lecture in honour of the great Jeremy Hutchinson, who extremely kindly (then aged 101) met me during research to tell me about his days in Mecklenburgh Square in the 1930s. Extremely surreal and amazing to meet someone who actually knew Virginia Woolf.

I think by might be my book of the year even though it’s only February, not least because its theme of brilliant women writing in the face of global fascism seems - shall we say - au courant.

Hurrah for Preti Taneja! Love knowing her above all—but also exchanging thoughts and griefs and fuck-it-alls about novels and history and art. Thanks to The White Review!

‘It’s exciting to read a female friendship that runs against a THELMA AND LOUISE narrative; which foregrounds women of mixed brown backgrounds.’ Celebrate this year's ‘Galentines’ day with + , in conversation. Now online, here:

Still a few tickets left to this event tomorrow: and discussing their brilliant books, writing biography, and Phyllis Rose's delicious, incisive examination of marriage and power, PARALLEL LIVES. It's the romantic outing you need!

Just finished ‘Square Haunting’ by - absolutely fascinating exploration of 5 female writers around two World Wars & their reflections on gender & power. A tour de force of research. Particularly enjoyed intro to H.D., of whom i knew nothing
