It’s a “Northern Year”. No surprise, NCLB has blown in with southerly Sept warm air and spreading. Pictures show ear leaf to tassel leaf. Headline Amp + Caramba shining in this field with a noticeable advantage in leaf disease activity vs. new entry to the market

Tassels out, meaning the VT corn fungicide window is open for Strobilurin products and with the silks nicely extended the DON suppression window is open for Early corn on the Norfolk sand looking sharp, protect that yield potential

"If grass is green, white mold is keen". Lots of mushrooms showing up in lawns and a good indicator for what is going in field. Target soybean fields that are flowering and full canopy

scouting tips. Pigweed (L) vs Nightshade (R) vs (lower). Nightshade similar cotlyedons to waterhemp, purple underside and no 'notch' leaf tip. Pigweed long cotlyedons, hair on leaf/stem. shiny from lack of hair, short pointed cotlyedons.

PSA I’ve found flea beetle on most of the volunteer canola plants I have seen in the past 2 weeks. Monitor for this pest early in your spring canola. Lumiderm insecticide offered on InVigour brand seed will help with management

Start clean and stay clean! Get ahead of glyphosate-resistant canada fleabane pre and post in corn with F/B . Multiple modes of effective action are needed to tackle fleabane this size.

Couple corn planters rolling today, on very dark damp cultivated ground. If soil sticks to gauge wheels (which it is) it’s not fit!!! Key reminder re 2018 DON, uneven emergence>>inconsistent silking/ear size HUGE factor. This can’t be corrected, reduces DON mgmt options

Always important to add multiple modes of effective action in your herbicide program. Tap roots like these will only grow larger as the season progresses.

Fleabane advanced rapidly in the last week from newly-emerged 8-12 leaf, to nearly 20-leaf such as this one. Looks small, but more difficult to control from here on. Tillage won’t do the job. Coverage, multiple effective modes all critical
