I wish all politicians would remember that there may be three levels of government, but only one taxpayer. RETWEET if you agree.

Thank you to , & for welcoming me today. Our municipal partners have an important role to play in returning Ontario to fiscal balance, that's why we're committing $7.35 million to help them find 4¢ savings on every dollar they spend.

We campaigned on finding four cents for every provincial dollar spent and we are asking our partners to do the same.

But the previous Liberal government was using the credit card to pay the mortgage and, with interest payments costing our province $38 million a day, we can't do it alone.

Our government was elected to fix 15 years of Liberal mismanagement, put the province on a path to balance and protect services like health care and education.

If it came down to protecting their children’s future, every family in Ontario could find four cents on the dollar in their own household budget. All we are asking is that our partners join us in doing the same.

It’s the work of making sure future generations — our children and grandchildren have access to the same services and opportunities that we enjoy today.

We encourage municipal leaders to take us up on these offers. Work with us to find four. Find the savings. We know that finding efficiencies is difficult work, we have gone through it ourselves. But it is the most important work that there is in government.

Our government will pay to send in independent experts who can look at the books, line by line. To help identify ways to save money while protecting those essential services.

Now we need our large urban municipalities, the district school boards to do what we did and find four – find four cents on every dollar they spend.

During the campaign, I committed to finding 4 cents on every dollar that we spend. To find 4% efficiencies in a $156 billion budget. And I am proud to say that thanks to the hard of work of our team, we are doing our part.

The only way Ontario can get off the path to bankruptcy is to work together. So I am asking our partners to join us. Make Ontario’s fiscal health a priority and help us protect what matters most.

The fact is, more than 90% of provincial spending goes through our partners. Municipalities, school boards, hospitals and universities. And to protect what matters most, they must be part of the solution.

As a province, we need to have the courage to deal with our current reality. And our reality is that, after 15 years of mismanagement, we must do things differently.

Ontario voted for our government to protect what matters most. You voted for us to protect education, child care and health care. Not just for today, but for future generations.
