We have from the beginning referred to them as functional seizures as more appropriately encompasses all possible eventualities. We only make reference to NEAD given it is still commonly known in the UK, but unhelpful having terminology stating what it isn't (non-epileptic).

It is never OK for anyone to feel this way because a medical professional is not properly educated about a medical condition. Education is needed! I say it and I will keep saying it. Lack of knowledge is not license to be disrespectful.

Sent an email to about hoping he might read it and help us out 🤞 FND and other rare conditions are not recognised enough and more needs to be done to educate medical professionals as well as the general public 🧠

Hi I think the way to get the word out about FND is for more people to talk about their experiences and to educate medical professionals, because they don't have all the answers. Let's face it, we are the ones with the condition so who better to teach and help others learn? 🙋🏻‍♀️😄

On March 16 our colleague Mark Woods-Nunn will walk approx. 280 miles from our Cambridge HQ, Triangle, to the Cambridge Assessment office in Paris 📍. Mark and will raise funds for and , and will talk to a number of schools on their way.

There are multiple reasons why people may develop FND. These are unique to the individual. In some cases trying to find a cause fails to assist in the recovery process. Minimising exposure to known triggers and risk factors may be helpful in managing symptoms.
