100 years ago, was like Cannes, or Nice; even Monte Carlo. A desperate century of decline, inhumanity and death, plumbs new depths.

the footage from — of both the explosion and its immediate aftermath — looks utterly apocalyptic. all those caught up in this horrific disaster — including all those many people who’ve been injured and killed — are in my thoughts. 🇱🇧

There is no way that second explosion is fireworks. The shockwave alone rules out that possibility.

Official explanation for the Beirut explosion appears to be a ship carrying fireworks exploding in Beirut Port. (ht )

Company stayed open (presumably) for plumbers. Admin staff were not as in demand. He was entitled to use the scheme like any other business. As an employer, now demand has picked up, he is entitled to require his employees to return to the workplace.

Do you wish to continue to live in a first world country? If this nonsense keeps carrying on the nation will become a basket case. We cannot sit at home forever.
