Ah lovely, thanks! I didn't know the actual name of it and kept looking for "pushbutton switch" :)

I bought a second hand classic joystick (long story that will be in a blog post soon.) Turns out this switch part is broken and does not make stable contact. I fixed it by replacing it with one of the two extra "fire" switches. I wonder if they still make this part at all.

"So it was a real bug? And you fixed it? And you want me to threaten the journalist? Have you ever heard of Barbara Streisand? Yes, she is an American treasure, but that's not my point..."

I've been on a couple of those. I always come up more defensive _after_ the training than before :/

You summarised my annoyances with a closing plenary at a conference a couple of years ago.

Not _everything_ advertised on Facebook. Or at least not for my feed. TeeTurtle I discovered through FB Ads and they are _awesome_. But yeah, 90% of it is the same. And people don't always have the tools to figure it out.

If you ever have trouble getting people engaged with the problem of fake profiles, and fake engagement, because it all boils down to politics and nobody want to know their side uses those tactics, consider telling them this story. _Nobody_ likes sellers who defraud them.

Earthly Citizens had nearly 900 positive comments on their Facebook ads for this exact backpack. How many of those were real "suckers" who paid two-to-four times as much for he backpack as they meant to, and how many are paid engagement?

The Sterling recently lost a lot of value against the dollar, but even with that, $51 is £41. A far cry from the £87.75 of the "flash sale", without even considering the "original" price of £159.61.

You can "easily" grab the image with your browser's developer tools, and do a reverse image search on Google. And one of the first results will be… AliExpress. Here's the exact same item. For $51. It's even the same exact images.

And the reviews are not particularly… positive. So you start wondering, why do they put so prominent watermarks on their Facebook images? And why are they blocking right-clicks even on privacy pages?

Except if you just googled the address, you can find this yelp page: The name is different, the address similar. I assume "STE" is "SuiTE". Although I doubt they have 6-digits suites in that warehouse. Probably a remailer address, like ParcelMotel&co.

If you look up the address (11923 NE Sumner St STE 813872 Portland Oregon 97220), you can see it's a nondescript warehouse somewhere in Portland. I mean it would not be unheard of, for it to be a startup…
