I was charged for a glass of wine I drank (it was $12 wine), when invited over to dinner. Kicker, I also brought wine but chose to drink some of the bottle already opened that was offered to me. I left $19 wine with dinner invitees.

Yeah, it was a real “are you actually serious” moment. I tried to write it off on age difference (I was like 7 years older) but even at my brokest, I would never request money for wine someone drank at my house when I invited them to dinner. Ever.

I have girlfriends who have been charged for drinks by men after first dates.

Oh, I’ve heard of this too! Which is just so insane. You invite me out and you pay, you can’t ask me to pay you later!

1) economic security is getting that bad? 2) Instead of people sharing more at dinners like these, they charge each other? 3) Capitalism as ultimate relationship killer?

I refuse to believe these characters were born or raised anywhere in the southern part of the US. Here we feed you until you’re stuffed and then send you home with leftovers. What the hell is venmo

We know how to do that in the north too. You don't leave my house hungry or thirsty, and you take home extra dessert to have for breakfast the next day.

This is why I refuse to use venmo. Micromanaging small debts in social settings is for psychopaths. I like your company? I’ll buy you a freakin drink, stop sweating it.
