The good news is any one of us could win a Presidential Medal of Freedom at any moment. That shit is wide open.

I think one of the root causes of #1 is that the wrong group of people are working on it.

Interesting, thanks for sharing! Ya, I'm leaning towards that approach as well as a starting point

Ya, they're purely in-memory with json serialization if you want to persist (which I would)
Looks like someone put together a basic proof-of-concept of FTS on top of indexeddb, maybe a starting point 🤔 gist.github.com/inexorabletash…

Ya, this is a good point. There's other useful stuff that fts engines typically do like tokenization and stemming but those can probably tied together with smaller libraries

Has anyone built full-text search in an electron app? (that runs locally on the desktop). Curious what you used to implement and what options you tried along the way.

I came across these fantastic letters from the late 1800s in my attic. Sir Mix-A-Lot and Dr. Dolittle debate whether you produce great work by focusing narrowly or experimenting broadly. Enjoy! vishalkapur.com/duel-focus-exp…

Engineers should do customer support. (And designers, sales, executives, etc)
It helps prevent getting disconnected from your users, making for a better product. And it improves communication within your company because everyone's more aligned on what users are experiencing.

How does the team handle situations where two or more people are working together, and at least one person is blocked from making progress because they're waiting on other work to be done first?
Or do you try not to organize projects like that?

Ownership is about exposure to upside and downside. It’s having more at stake.
