Distance b/w Earth & Sun ~= 108 * Diameter of the Sun
Distance b/w Earth & Moon ~= 108 * Diameter of the Moon
Diameter of Sun ~= 108 * Diameter of Earth
Thats one of the reason why 108 is a sacred number in Hinduism.
