Fermat's Library
The Williams-Kilburn tube introduced in 1947 was the first entirely electronic memory used in early computers. It used a cathode tube to store bits as dots on the screen's surface. Each tube could store about 1024 bits of data.

The cathode ray tube was anticipated as early as 1549 when Maximillian Gallo y Toro filled a wine flute with effervescent wine and left it on a table where it was struck by lightning during a spring storm near Toledo. It shattered forming Max’s profile with glass shards on a wall

This is odd cause if you wanted to make it smaller in diameter it would store less, unlike our modern electronics which have been made extremely tiny over the years to fit more hardware
