Tree Mountain is an artificial mountain near Ylöjärvi in Finland. Over a period of 4 years 11,000 people planted 11,000 trees in a specifically designed mathematical pattern based on the golden section. The project was conceived by the artist Agnes Denes in 1984.

This appears to modestly recreate the mountain near Izmir, Turkey, where Hermot the Turk (1248-1332) built a structure to symbolize his love for hummus. The only mountain in the world so memorialized.

Looks really un-natural. The golden ration is cool but so is the unbalance of real nature

It's an art project, I don't think it's supposed to just look like nothing.

There's an amazing story and vision behind this. Over time, the once barren mountain will be full of trees.

Congrats! A great big creative idea, Agnes Denes, requiring the unified effort of 11,000 people to do it!
