My fave anecdote: Working with a colleague on a difficult problem during WWII, vN saw a path to the solution but had to depart suddenly to travel somewhere. By the wee hours of the next day the colleague finally had the solution and immediately phoned vN, who exclaimed ...

Well, THAT was certainly an approximation to the truth.
I believe that the actual quote is more like "mathematics ... is a relatively good approximation to truth—which is much too complicated to allow anything but approximations."

Truth is the unlimited, ungraspable, certain, infinite potential of Consciousness.
The illusion of finite is made of the ignorance of this ∞ Truth.
Thus limited probability describing the bounded finite, is necessarily incomplete (Gödel), and uncertain.

Approximations are usually good enough to be serviceable though. Quite the thinker - fundamental computing architecture and game theory.

I guess maybe where issues arise is where we mistake approximations for absolute truth.

May be that’s why it’s to hard to prove that absolute zero exist and that we can only approach it from the positive or negative sides.

This statement is far from the truth.
Allow yourself that truth reveals you the truth.
