Just cause the olympic committee says "sport is neutral" does not make it so. Sports, along with all media express values and beliefs and therefore are political. They are platforms with huge audiences and as such should absolutely be sites where players protest injustice.

The games industry's failure to take GamerGate (including all the preceding years of abuse leading up to it) seriously is a massive failure. A failure that sadly, has had widespread consequences for American and global politics.

This week's new initiative is all about helping men go from bystanders (and sometimes enablers) of abuse into allies in the fight for gender justice. Our digital resource center will help men educate themselves on how to recognize abuse and how to support those who experience it.
