The gall midge associated with soybean white mold in MN has been identified as Karshomyia caulicola (Coquillett). It is not the pest species, Reselliela maxima (Gagne), the soybean gall midge, which in MN, appears to be limited to the SW part of the state.

I found Gall Midge in Dakota (Tuesday) and Goodhue (Today) counties. Both fields only had occurrence in conjunction with white mold plants near the infection point.

Difference between May 5th and June 7th planted corn in Rice county MN. Hybrids are 98 - 100 - 104 day in order. 104 has a 98 day silk.

Northern Corn Leaf Blight is a disease we monitor closely in SE MN. Fungicide does work well to help prevent NCLB but doesn’t have activity on Goss’s Wilt, so identification is key. Notice freckles on edge of Goss’s Wilt are translucent when backlit.
