Yea if I don’t get a company match I don’t do it. I don’t recommend that for others bc their situation might be different but it works for me.

Right, rollover to IRA is usually best option. But you still have to go through that process which often includes a physical check (!) and make sure you don’t mess up or you’ll be taxed. Then you have to figure out how to invest it in the IRA. Many people just forget to do this.

Looks cool. One of the big problems is rollovers. So even if you have a nice 401k at your current gig, when you leave you need to make some decisions on if/how to rollover. Many people don't do this or even forget about their accounts!

The 401k account is a horrible product. Too complicated and difficult to manage. Especially for a gen that changes jobs frequently. Simplicity and automation are key features for great financial service products.

Serious question, why do people donate to their alma maters? Some of these schools already have billions in their endowments. I went to a UC but have never felt that strong a connection where I’d donate any serious amount of money.

Definitely a feature I miss. I think I saw somewhere that it is in their roadmap though so 🤞

The student loan repayment system is complex, outdated, and undermines borrowers’ efforts to repay: • 20% of borrowers are in default • 1 million+ loans go into default each year

I’d do that before I sign up for another monthly subscription.

Any good alternatives? Have used them for years but now was forced to upgrade and keeping getting a pop up which asks for a monthly subscription which I’m not interested in. Pretty surprised a basic open source password manager doesn’t exist.

I want to be able to say “I read 50 books in 2019!”. Saying “I listened to 50 books” doesn’t sound as cool. Lol

Great points in the post. I digest content better in audio format but for some reason always felt it’s better if I read the physical book. I now listen to a book and if I like it buy the print.

Does listening to an audio book count as having “read” that book? Asking for a friend.

JUST NOW: The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passes the UIGHUR Act, a bill to condemn the Chinese government for its mass internment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang, with a vote of 406-1.
