Tech leadership is broken. Most people think the goal is to win a debate. Tech leadership should be about enabling others to debate and deliver a right/optional solution rather than arriving there yourself.

1/ Of course Google's AI bot that sounds human poses some terrifying problems. Of course it must be tweaked. At the same time, this is how innovation has always happened: leaps forward with terrifying blind spots that must then be addressed. Innovation is messy.

Target launched a new project that enforces images running on are scanned by Clair. Super cool stuff! The code looks really approachable and well written. I'm not finding any pitfalls I've commonly found in other Clair integrations!

Kubernetes operators look extremely promising from an operations viewpoint. Improvements like this are how we'll cut though the fear of the unknown in Ops teams. The benefits outweigh the fear!

The idea that the right solution to hard problems will be simple and intuitive is like the genius myth for innovation: there are great thinkers whose ideas unleaded new potentials, and there are elegant solutions to some intractable problems. But it’s not that simple :).

I’ve gone back and forth on how fair this is but - I do look more favorably at candidates whose resume was typeset in LaTeX. Or has good typography. Ok yeah, this is probably a me issue.

Are there multiple monitoring servers, any of which could collect the metrics from that target? Or are there resource restraints that require the monitoring system to collect from one target or any other at a given time?

I guess working on technology is 50% being amazed by people being more brilliant and human than you thought possible and 50% lifting up veneer and being like ‘this bridge is actually held up by seven toothpicks and an angry raccoon’
