Do you work or read about plasticity and constraints? Are you wondering why so many people read the same results in opposite ways? We have written a paper on why that happens. (thread)

A person of color telling you, a white woman, to stop, to be quiet, to listen, to learn isn't silencing you because you're a woman. They're reminding you that your womanhood does not transcend your whiteness

I'm convinced that nobody actually gets better at using R, you just get better at articulating whatever it is you're trying to do using R in a Google search

To academics, who feel entitled to “intellectual debates” when colleagues express pain about their marginalisation or sexual harassment, I’d like to say: You aren’t as smart as you think you are & you‘re part of the problem.

It is never worth it. Science can do better. Professors can do better. Stop defending your colleagues that have done bad stuff. Stop.

I did some career coaching with a postdoc this weekend. One thing to remember is to be prepared when you’re asking for help. Have your questions ready and don’t ask a question like ‘what do you do?’. Asking someone you want help from this question isn’t winning you any points.

If you can get past the poor expression, what Biden is doing here is repeating a common, debunked claim that African-American children grow up in homes where they don't hear enough words.

As someone from a low-income family, applying for jobs where I would likely constantly struggle to keep my own research group funded and having that financial stress carried into my profession is terrifying. How have other coped? What other fears have u had?

Dear Friends, I have written an article on Medium detailing my experience reporting my professor at UT Austin. Please read and share. We need to do better by our students. What I went through reporting was nothing short of a nightmare.

Camping in the Midwest is 1) being slightly scared cuz you’re brown but sorta like the outdoors 2) seeing many white midwest dads wearing “This is my camping shirt” shirts and 3) hearing random midwest dads sneezing v loudly across the campground

Yes, I’m serious. We have a racist president with racist policies, and Democrats need an antiracist nominee. keeps showing us that he isn’t up to the task. His debate meltdown proved that once again. He should step aside. The stakes are too high.
