I can't speak for Samsung... ...but I do know that LG plans to unveil a foldable phone at its 2019 CES keynote.

Don't they usually copy samsung with a year's delay after samsung copied apple with a year's delay?

LG has always been a tech innovator, so that's one accusation that wouldn't stick. cc

I feel like we have seen so many mocks of the Samsung phone. Glad they’re waiting until they get it right. Doubt LG will do anything of substance with it.

Don't take this to mean that Samsung isn't also showing theirs at the show -- I've read that they are -- as it only means what it says, I can't personally speak to it.

To be fair, Samsung is still appealing a ruling in US which decided exactly that.

The foldable phone has been talked about so long, they probably are making them to shut people up.....jk.... I just have hard time seeing it be practical device at first. I hope I am wrong! As long as it does not have a notch should be fun to see what they come up with! 📱

Does the article say which patents Samsung infringed? I couldn't find it.

it needs a keynote to explain the need for it to be foldable.

To me the appeal is obvious: we're close to the limit in mobile device screen sizes, and foldables have the ability to push that limit out quite a bit.

LG continues to lose money in the smartphone business. This will ensure the streak continues.

Totally disagree. The same trend which vanquished "phablet" from the dictionary suggests that there are a ton of people who want ever bigger screen sizes, as folks like to feel they can get double duty from their phones.
