"The news that a further slaughter of our native badgers is now sanctioned comes at the moment we have in our hands definitive proof that bovine TB will only be conquered by action within the herds to cut off the routes of reinfection" Dr Brian May Save Me Trust

SZC site is in floodzone3 so with rising sea levels & increased storm surges it is madness to build twin reactors there SZC will use 2.5billion gals sea water for cooling(returned 10deg hotter) & kill tons of marine life daily SZC will also use 2million litres mains water daily

EDF boss told me at the consultation that it's all OK because it's designed to be an island should flooding occur...... this little Suffolk community needs national help to fight this!

Local resident & media presenter Bill Turnbull asks RSPB members @loveminsmere rally to get ANGRY about EDFE plans to build two new reactors. A four lane road to split AONB across South side of reserve. Severance & pollution forever. Badgers to be removed. Huge range of threats.

Great to be at Minsmere protesting quietly against horrendous nuclear power station threat to Minsmere & surrounds. Including 4-lane road to ruin, badger evictions and untold permanent damage.

Replying to @bovinetb @jw132 and 13 others
That concluded that there's no evidence for or against long term culling.

Wrong again, but the problem is multifaceted.

No, sadly not. Because in theory (only) it might be working a but any effect overwhelmed by cattle-cattle infection. So it's a strategy with no exit unless cattle measures work well enough, which is impossible with current misuse of SICTT. Current plan is cull badgers to 2038.

Point is you can't. Modelling against non-cull areas can give a theoretical view on change but cannot attribute it absolutely to culling. N.B. the well overdue Brunton 2017 update (Downs 2019) appears to have been pulled.

NE have no bTB epidemiology expertise. They can hire experts if they need them, but budgets been slashed.....Ref pic: TL co-managed one the most extensive disease investigations of a wild animal ever undertaken in the UK during the 1990s.

by 80% in 4 yrs in the 1960s with plenty of Badgers in W country & no culling. Current policy represents total waste of resources on approach with no scientific credibility.

..cannot replace what the vet and farmer see on the ground. The policy is to cull to 2038 in the hope that killing badgers might help a bit ( which it won't) while the industry is propped up with public money & the mis-use of the SICCT test somehow resolved. bTB was reduced...

Gvt position is that four cull areas for 6 years meets statistical min for change ( in 2022) but even then won't distinguish between the interventions. The only measurable outcome is eradication of bTB anything else means carry on. Modelling is just a theoretical game that - 1/2
