Top administrators at a tax-exempt non-profit fly first-class on the Uni's dime, regularly dine opulently on campus, and get millions of $ annually with the help of shady donors for doing... things. But it's graduate workers striking for their rights that's ruining higher ed! 🙃

Now that I've left The Maroon: . While covering UChicago I saw administrators spending lavishly on vanity projects while ignoring grad workers struggling to pay the bills. Graduate workers will only get what they deserve from a shady admin when is recognized.

The law isn't always clear whether legal protections for professional journalists apply to their student counterparts. I hope that fighting this subpoena vigorously will change that and discourage powerful parties from subpoenaing other student journalists going forward.

Thanks everyone for your support in helping me retain counsel. I couldn't have done it without your help—Mr. Topic heard about my case through your efforts and generously offered to represent me pro bono or through a journalism grant.

I’ve also been speaking to legal professionals who were kind enough to reach out. Because nothing is finalized, I welcome your further recommendations, but I may be unable to thank each of you (my apologies, I have to study so I can pass macroeconomics and graduate!)
