When an employee refused because they said the funding was meant for students in need, the administrator argued it was "important that these students have a good [...] experience, so we can continue to build our relationship with the employers and donors associated with them."

The emails were intended for students classified as "Special Interest Cases" (SICs). According to a former Career Advancement employee, SICs also included students related to top University administrators.
