Officer shot was from the second district, started in February 2017. He wasn’t assigned to the call about the shooting, but responded and entered the hospital when he heard gunshots.

Gunman shot woman who he had a relationship with near the hospital, and then fled inside the hospital when police responded. During an exchange of gunfire, another woman was shot, along with a CPD officer. The gunman also died, though it’s unclear whether he killed himself.

ABC7 is reporting that of the four wounded, two (including a CPD officer) have been transported to the UChicago's new trauma center, while one woman in extremely critical condition was sent to Northwestern, which is much farther from Mercy. The status of the 4th victim is unknown

Officials have said that a press conference is scheduled at the hospital in about a half hour. The mayor may also speak, though it’s unclear if he’ll speak from the hospital.

Four people were shot at Chicago’s Mercy Hospital in the South Side, and two have died including the gunman, according to reports from local media. At least some of the injured have been transported to ’s hospital. Heavy police presence there.

Journalists should question Bloomberg on his motives here. He donated billions to his alma mater, dwarfing his contributions to orgs like the . Is he acting mainly on his desire to maximize well-being, or is his priority to improve the "prestige" of the college he attended?

Had Bloomberg's billions been distributed across several public universities in much more dire straits, his donations would have gone much further, improving college accessibility to potentially over a hundred thousand students.
