Please share this and ask your MP to back 21st century abortion laws for all U.K. citizens - the women of Northern Ireland should not be left behind! If your MP says yes please let us know they pledge to

Hope that those now turning their gaze to Northern Ireland do so properly. We shouldn't extend the Abortion Act- it was the best we could do in the 60s, but it's outdated now. It's time to catch up with Europe & repeal the *1861* abortion offences instead- in all our countries.

Sobering thought that the current bookmaker’s favourite to be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom would have been on the losing side of today’s abortion referendum.

The Mirror's apology to Katie Hopkins is condescending on a level I genuinely aspire to 👏👏👏

This is my mam. It took 38 years for us to find each other again. The last time she saw me was when she was running after a car as nuns drove away with me. We voted yes. We stand together for change.

How does the UK feel about having the most Draconian abortion laws in the western world in N Ireland? Is it okay because it’s Belfast not Berkshire?

Legalising abortion in Ireland seems to have also been a massive hit with men and people aged 50-64. Grassroots activists, the broad left, liberals and civil society have combined and broken social conservatism there for a generation. The model a wise UK left should follow.

Tara Flynn can never be thanked enough for what she did. The abuse she took for standing up and speaking out should never be forgotten. She is the kindest woman in the land. My hero. I love you ❤️

This leaves Northern Ireland a complete outlier, with no same-sex marriage and a near-total abortion ban. Women prosecuted for procuring abortion pills in 2017 and 2016. Women with fatal foetal abnormality diagnoses travelling to Britain. It's unsustainable.

*DO NOT* suggest that Northern Ireland has a referendum too. We do not have abortion restrictions enshrined in a constitution. We (and the rest of the UK) are governed by the British 1861 Offences Against the Person Act. We must decriminalise abortion!

Not much would get me out of bed after having a homebirth 24 hours ago but my son wanted to get in some historic suffrage. we voted together for yes to pregnany/birth autonomy and consent, yes to a more equal society, yes to the 36th amendment.
