Today another large 51% attack occurred on the network which caused a reorganization of over 7000 blocks which corresponds to approximately 2 days of mining. All lost blocks will be removed from the immature balance and we will check all payouts for dropped txs.

You realize that you can still be 51% attacked when you move to SHA-3, right? If your chain only has 10 GH/s and there is 225 GH/s comparable in GPU hashing power on ETH...they can be rented and thrown at ETC.

That’s the team real issue they proposed them a real quick win and long term solution to stop the 51% attack which that could be released in 24hrs but they’re still ignoring those proposals... they are themselves digging they own graves.

...but why not? There will not be ASICs on day one. A GPU and an FPGA will still mine Ethash.

...I think they are mining ETC, that’s the point? :p

Question, is SHA3 ASIC friendly? If not would it make sense to move to a prop algo that is ASIC friendly to create some stronger players with better incentive alignment?

The miner incentive games still seem contradictory to me at times, but would it have made sense to give a player a head start to sink some R&D and capital in dev and rollout of specialized hardware ready for the switch?

At what point does an outfit like drop an asset like this in order to protect its brand?
