Would love to see an directory/inventory/register of “hot fixes” still in every day use.

The tears are shed daily on platforms and the odd short format trains that do show up throughout the North and I bet they’re still here next year

We get them on the line that passes ours, usually the just-before-9am to Leeds is a rattler. I kinda like them in a hacky recycled and designy way. eg. the seats are a component from another assembly (buses). Just another kind of design system with conditions around a problem

I went to junior school in “temporary classrooms” made of plywood and roofing felt which had stood there for 30 years. More famously, the Eiffel Tower and the London Eye were both notionally temporary structures!

Thing about Pacers is that when they broke a guy could come along with a watering can and a stick and perform magic to get them going again. I think I've found the one good thing about them 🤷‍♀️

I'd be seriously worried about getting anywhere if NorthernFail are taking that many trains out of circulation. Have fun this afternoon.
