A friend asked me to defend technology in two tweets. Curious for critiques, or your own version. Here's mine:
Society survives or dies based on its ability to sustainably grow the pie.
Without a growing pie, there’s a winner for every loser, and we engage in zero sum conflict.

The bigger the pie, the more there is to redistribute as well
Technology innovation, if done well, helps do more with less—grows the pie without hurting the environment (amazon.com/More-Less-Surp…)
Technology innovation is thus a force for good, and we should encourage more of it

Currently, our technology exceeds our humanity. We are technological giants and spiritual infants. People need to grow up so they can handle the power of technology.

"We are living in space-age times with people who are living with Stone Age minds.” - Daryl Davis
Since this seems like a systemic problem, how would you suggest we grow up as a society?

People need to remember that technology is a lot more than software.

I’m quite fond of “Jesus wept” and Alexander Schememann’s interpretation of it—death as something to be vanquished, not accepted.
Technology can burn us (I’m still not sure mirrors should be kept in the home, much less clocks).
But it can also liberate us from grief. pic.twitter.com/jWqhrFXHy6

Technology is an emergent, yet purposive, process which arises from the interactions between humans (and other agents) over time.
The tech industry is another thing.

Technology (broadly speaking) is a force multiplier and a time saver.
Anything that grants you greater leverage and saves you time is a tool. Tools can be used wisely, or unwisely.
The problem, if there is one, isn’t the tool. The problem is too much or too little constraint.
