To the extent there's founder/VC misalignment (VCs have portfolio, founders don't), it's truly founder/LP misalignment
VCs are shooting for decacorns bc LPs prefer "Go Big or Go Home"—LPs have portfolios too
Everyone's diversifying on top of someone else's concentrated strategy

Limited partners the guys who give vcs the money to invest. Typically big funds like university endowments etc.

Its also nice having press on portfolio companies, especially as a lot of large institutional LP’s aren’t into the weeds on the asset class.
The CIO / investment committee at a $100b pension in Kansas probably aren’t using Uber, never used ClassPass, etc. Press is their signal.

Founders should have some sense of the VC expectation and how their business model works if they’re going to take their $ right?
What would you change about the VC/GP/LP alignment? 2/20 still work?
