It was a very easy mistake to make. The original version of the bill (HB49) would have provided for the termination of "parental rights for that parent if that instance of (first-degree) rape or incest resulted in the conception of the child."

This story is very disturbing. Alabama didn't have a law on the books to prevents rapists from getting parental rights. Even more disturbing when you realize this story is wrong and Alabama failed to pass that version of this bill this year.
