Often I find that these plans claim to “prioritize mental health”... for the people *around* a given mentally ill person. Prioritizing mental health would mean listening to mentally ill people & helping people work through the trauma that’s often wrapped up in it.

History you won’t find in textbooks: it’s been 20 years (not that long ago at all) since the Supreme Court decided unnecessary segregation of disabled people into institutions violated the Americans with Disabilities Act. Still, this fight is ongoing.

“At the airport, he refused to board without the baby. The immigration officers, he said, told him that Constantin would be handed to him once he had taken his seat. But the plane lifted off and the baby never came.” Heartbreaking story.

Every person who lectures disabled people about person-first language has to read up for an hour about the Disability Integration Act. I don’t make the rules, I just highly aggressively enforce them

Illegal is an incorrect and hateful term. And it's especially inaccurate in this context. Allow me to explain.

I react to adhesive so I applied it directly to my skin outside the picc dressing and it stopping blowing up and burning within hours, nothing else did that except for liquid allergy meds in the ER two weeks ago 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have you tried applying Flonase? I know it says not to but it saved me last week, I was suspicious about it when another friend said it worked miracles but she was right

“I am a person with Blackness” . . . See how silly that sounds? I’m Black. I’m Disabled. I’m a Disabled Black Woman. Not a person with womanhood disability and Blackness

Everybody please stop letting trash men tell you what “morals” or “character” is. Ask a woman. Ask a mother. Ask an Auntie. They’ll actually be able to teach you something.
