Do you think there is something to treating ourselves as art objects? I mean, I’ve always experimented with augmenting myself in artistic ways. Sometimes I get bored with it and need to see new colors and styles, and switch things around again.

I never went very bold, but I dyed my hair black, blond, blond/red, and experimented with different color lenses as well as a teenager. I also enjoy different colors nail polish.

It created a lot more awareness, and greater ability to regulate, which has reduced the need to mask. I’m still working on untangling myself though. If you just drop the mask without the necessary skills in place, I think it can be detrimental.

I have practiced meditation, mindfulness, and nondualism with my psychotherapist to live more authentically.

And I love this one: “I feel sorry for the font and I want to give it a hug. I want to find a way to include it in my art even though it triggers my migraines. We have conflicting needs, but I’m doing my best to be loving and tolerant.”

Some quotes: “YES It’s bothersome beyond belief! And for that alone it’s a masterpiece!” “Worst font ever award. Like trying to read posters put up in a house of mirrors.” “Who would do that to them??? Why would you treat your words like that”

Part of the genius of the typeface Digestive by Jérémy Landes () is that it evokes such intense negative responses from autistic people. In this post, we discuss more of those.

Has anyone heard of Mew2King, an autistic Super Smash Bros. Melee world champion? I didn’t know who he was until this article, but he is quite a fascinating person! After that, I watched several videos about his story on YouTube.

I never went very bold, but have probably dyed my hair more often than men generally do.

I noticed there are a disproportionate number of autistic people dyeing their hair in bold colors, including blue. I haven't observed a correlation between that and being post-diagnosis though. Some didn't even seem to know they are autistic.

So on the one hand words have no inherent meaning and are subject to change, but despite that, they shape our very reality. This seems to point to the importance of choosing words well, but also to the risk of pedantry, which shapes a pedant reality.

But he also rejected the idea that language is separate and corresponding to reality, and argued that concepts do not need clarity for meaning. He argued that the world we see is defined and given meaning by the words we choose. In short, the world is what we make of it.

Definitely. The autistic philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein called these language games; he argued that a word or even a sentence has meaning only as a result of the “rule” of the “game” being played. We should remember that language is used in multifarious ways.
