Yeah, I'm unsure about this. Adding an empty line to all files just because a random tool could potentially have a problem with it feels wrong. But it might be a solution in some cases.

Might be a historical problem, but it isn't one nowadays. I'm not aware of any tool that can't deal with files without a new line at the end. Especially not in web development.

Little known trick: the <script> tag in html runs the code inside, and also hides it using css display:none. But I can change that to display:block, so that I can show sample code to the reader *and* also run it on the page to generate diagrams. (need to test across browsers)
