I’m on the same page as you with this one: this game is a lot of fun and it really shouldn’t be, and you can 100% get hosed by the card draw and somehow it’s fun anyway.

It’s not clear to me from the review but you *are* playing correctly in that a sandstorm affects *all* players, yes?

Oldest inplayed by me: “Trump: The Game”. I got it second-hand well before Trump entered politics. No idea if the previous owner ever played it.
I would like to play it sometime because I’ve heard it’s a half-decent negotiation game, but...might have to wait a few years yet.

This log scale graphic from the @nytimes comparing the corona virus is really helpful.
(Also, Spanish Flu somehow had a *lower* mortality rate than my mind had imagined for it! The infection rates for Spanish Flu must have been *immense*, globally, to kill 50M people) pic.twitter.com/p7ogF00mLO

I’ve never heard of these but I’m immediately interested...

Yeah and I have seen at least one that specifically said “inconsistent with the tone of the game” so it’s not like nobody’s thought of it.

I once handed a human brain to Dr. Frankenstein.
Every word of that is literally true, with no stretching or obscuring of the truth.

And by that, you mean “a comforting reminder that all the heat and noise online actually doesn’t matter in the long run?” 😉

There was a leap month a couple years ago. They kind of slipped it in without telling anyone but it messes up the numbers.

The thing that always concerned me about those sort of rewards is that you’re going to get those backers that give their name as e.g. “Capt. Excelsior ShrekFan III” and completely ruin the tone of the game. This is...a lot more subtle.

Oh. Yeah. That never occurred to me but it’s obvious in retrospect isn’t it?

I used to use them a lot. I worked with an audio CD recorder that required “Audio CD-Rs”, which were expensive. So we used an Audio CD-RW and cloned it to cheaper CD-Rs, erased it, and used it again. Probably wiped and re-used that same disc a few hundred times.

Yeah I can’t imagine it’s *easy*, needing to essentially plan out all your logistics for something of unknown size that might not even happen.

Yes, unspecified shipping prices are a complete non-starter for me.

As a Canadian, the shipping prices are often high enough that I don’t bother backing...especially because there’s a good chance of import fees as well.
This leads to me being much more interested in small-box games with lower production costs, and/or games that ship from Canada.

Started typing in programs out of books when I was 5. Was doing simple programming in BASIC within a year or so. Taught myself C around age 15.
Not at all convinced that starting young made a difference, though. I’ve met excellent coders who started in university or later

I’m going to say Fabled Fruit, because I haven’t played many and I’m feeling spicy.
(Actually, does Kingsburg qualify? 🤔)
