Deresiewicz's definition of elite:"those who occupy the upper echelons of our society: [...] the upper and the upper middle classes both – the managers, the winners, the whole cohort of people who went to selective colleges and are running society for their own exclusive benefit”

Lyhyet työmatkat 💗 Suurin käytännön syy omalle etäilylle oli aikataulut, kun matkaan menisi suuntaansa lähes tunti. Huoh. Kotitoimiston perustaminen helpotti monia asioita, paitsi ennakoimattomia kohtaamisia. Niiden takia kannatti mennä toimistolle, vaikka kestikin.

Kaipaan lounaita.

Erityinen kiiitos ei-onnellisesta lopusta.

Our new article published online, open access. We analyzed the climate impact of forest harvest level in Finland. First time, I think, when study includes CO2 in trees, soil and wood products, and albedo & forest-related aerosols & avoided emissions.

Indeed. Among others, Bruno Latour analyses this in his book Down to Earth (2018). Deep sigh.

Fauxcurity: the false sense of security created by privilege when facing complex threats in an interconnected world. We are seeing it in real time with Covid; and it is a huge barrier to appropriate climate action.

B. Latourin kirja Down to Earth on hyvin osuva myös tämän ajankohtaisen ilmiön analysissa. Hyvin lyhyesti: Kuka hyötyy? Ilmastonmuutoksen kieltäminen palvelee tietyn (hyvin varakkaan) osan etua, vaikka he omassa toiminnassa ottavat ilmastonm. huomioon. Kenellä on varaa suojatua?

I think it is very important that has finally presented this analysis to the research community. It confirms what many of us knew: there seems to be structural bias in the system and women get less money for the same amount of work (11/)
