All so people can get to meetings 15 minutes sooner even though everyone has now learned that most in-person meetings are unnecessary and can be carried out online. Top-level decision-making at its most intransigent.

I quite like the vignetting effect in this record shot of a Barn Owl that I took this afternoon. It reminds me a bit of the kind of 1st-person effect they’d use in a schlock horror movie to show what the monster is seeing: in this case one predator stalking another smaller one...

That hole in the first photo looks like an ideal place to stash acorns...

Maybe it's something about the light on that N Norfolk coast too - you're right, the area does retain its eeriness despite the ever-encroaching gentrification. And I forgot to mention how much I love RISINGTIDEFALLINGSTAR and The Sea Inside, as well as the two PH book that I did!

Ah right! I found the opening of Superman II pretty terrifying when the criminals rip the astronauts spacesuit on the Moon...

It’d surely have to be ‘The Stalls of Barchester Cathedral’ by M R James: ‘There is no kitchen cat.’ And then he could blow out the candle and yowl.

I think a nocturnal walk is the ideal way to listen to it. It’s good that you have a canine companion along with you though, as they can warn you of the approach of any too-eager spooks!

I'm now imagining a wedding going on in the church above, while all those bones were sitting down there in the crypt... Actually though, I'd say it was a peaceful, contemplative kind of place. Just not somewhere I particularly wanted to get locked inside!
