Prices for basic goods in the consumption basket in Zimbabwe have dropped by an average of 19% in US$ terms, from January 2018 to June 2019. See table below from Treasury. The prices in RTGS$ terms are therefore grossly inflated.

We must look at the history of Africa; the first phase was liberation, the second phase is unification. We will only progress if we progress together! We look forward to working with the US & our friends around the world, as we march as a continent towards peace & prosperity.

I was extremely impressed today by what I saw at the Boards and Doors Production Plant and Southern Granites Company. We must as a nation take bold steps to innovate and seek home grown solutions. Recovery requires reform, responsibility and restructuring. 1/2

With unjustified price increases affecting all, we are demanding a stronger and more responsive social dialogue, protecting both our workers and our reforming economy. Zimbabwe will only be truly open for business when collaboration is put ahead of confrontation 2/2

Today, we commissioned the Tripartite Negotiating Forum (TNF); a transparent platform for crucial dialogue. As we progress our audacious development agenda, let us shun the culture of militancy & solve our differences by talking to each other. 1/2

Today at the Chamber of Mines Annual Conference, I discussed the need for strong fiscal & monetary policy frameworks, to get in line with international best practices & to create a win-win investment environment. Zimbabwe must be closed for looting, and open for business!
