A view of the ongoing excavation works for Unit 2. There are over 240 platforms of varying levels constructed in the Deep Dig as part of the excavation for the reactor foundations.

Rebar is installed before concrete is poured to construct a section of the Pump House. The Pump House comprises of cooling water systems and supporting systems, such as filtration and ventilation.

The successful concrete pour means Hinkley Point C is on track for “JO” the completion of unit one’s base. It provides the stable foundations for the reactor and its safety systems and is made from high quality nuclear concrete, reinforced with steel from South Wales.

Point C progress continues with the last major milestone of 2018 completed. In a job that took over 30 hours, teams poured concrete on the first part of reactor one's 4,500 tonne base, which provides the soild platform for reactor buildings.
