Wow, yes. This says it all in a nutshell: "Journalists shouldn’t pretend they know the answers. We should just stop pretending we don’t know what the problems are."

It’s as powerful a book as ever, and I reread it regularly. Amazing (and sad for us all) how prescient it was.

I read through my Florida school district's "plans," & there are so many disasters in the making: indoor chorus practice, full-contact sports, full cafeterias. It also contorts itself to avoid mask mandates, instead requiring only that students must have a face covering w/them.

Have done this since day one. If you're close enough to accept a drink or a bag of food from an employee at the drive-thru, you're less than six feet apart. So you're not social distancing. One side in the transaction wearing a mask is good. Both sides wearing a mask is better.

It's also telling that part of their proposed "solution" is a payroll tax cut... which helps people who are no longer on payrolls how? (Though it does help reduce funding for Social Security, which to them is a feature, not a bug.)

A study from S Korea could bolster those who argue reopening classrooms in much of US is too risky... while children under 10 years old are less likely to spread the coronavirus, young people between 10 and 19 years old will spread it similarly to adults.
