Interesting opinion on the European Parliament. This is also a problem for democracy overall. Normal politics with reasonable members of parliament and lots of compromises can be dull for the voter. A government shutdown like in th US can create attention and wake up voters. 1/3

That's the thing: structurally, there isn't really a democratic deficit. Any system, no matter how democratic on paper, swiftly stops being democratic if no one pays attention to it.
