"By contrast, the unilateral action [to close] South William Street to traffic just a day earlier was an unqualified success." ✊🏼 The Irish Times view on closing College Green to traffic: A lacklustre effort (via )

"The road has emerged as the setting for our most violent illustrations of systemic racism, combustion engines have helped create a climate crisis, and the quest for oil has led our soldiers into war."

Grangegorman () is being developed as a car-free campus, and it is all the better for it. They've already created some beautiful people-orientated spaces and looking forward to seeing what the rest of the campus will look like.

How would people drive to the gym to get their exercise?

What do you mean by universal access, specifically? You are being obtuse and vague and it appears deliberate. If your next response continues in the same vein it's end of conversation.

I do hate ranting, but I was cycling on grounds today and a car ran me off the road overtaking me! I think if drivers can't respect cyclists, maybe it is time to make UCD a car free zone?

Your logic appears to be that everyone should have access to every street by car because of this one very, very specific case. Your logic is flawed. I googled sealioning - you learn something new every day!

He has no right to just block the road like that. Taxi drivers have to earn a living, y'know?

Lovely people giving up their time this morning to protect the cycle lane on Camden st. Very sad that such measures have to be taken.

Good to see new bike stands in Drumcondra opposite Fagan's. It was always difficult to find bike parking around here, with lots of bikes locked to signposts and other street furniture. Nice one .

It'd be cool side project to organise a consultation with local businesses about the potential for using cargo bikes for deliveries - See if they could transition to them to negate some of the need for delivery vans to access the street.

We've been overwhelmed by the positive responses we've received from businesses on South William Street, with plenty of positivity on today's radio shows too ( & ). There is serious momentum behind the movement now!

This morning the taxi driver taking me to work for 5am told me he was not happy about people shutting down South William Street. I said I thought it was no bad thing, so he diverted to take a longer route in via South William Street to show me the error of my ways.
