Speed is extremely slow over i2p. It is not meant for video streaming at any reasonable quality.

That'll be real interesting trying to make use of i2p for video streaming...

How many redundant copies does temporal keep of a single IPFS object? What kind of server side protections do you have in place?

It was clearly stated the project is under heavily developmental beta. $0.05 is unfeasible when storing 40tb of data. We would be looking at $2,000 per month. It is estimated that the same amount of data can be stored for $500/month. Even lower if considering siacoin backing.

Why add extra steps for a feature that should exist by default?

Currently the main focus is to build data redundancy. Server stability will be looked at separately.

The main server that operates the data is configured to RAID 1. This is subject to change in the future as we continue to work towards a full production system. Having multiple server sure does protect against single server failures.

Absolutely if users do not pay, their data will be eventually removed. Data may be removed before the end of the prepaid pin lease. Option of doing pay as you go best suites our needs...

On the database side, multiple copies of the database can be stored across a set of servers.

IPFS Cluster give us the ability to have multiple redundant copies across a group of administrated IPFS nodes. Additionally we are looking into the ability to use siacoin distributed storage as a backup option, or cold storage for data that is rarely accessed.

If I remember correctly on the temporal web UI there is a maximum of 2 years, and must pay for the entire amount upfront.

we've found that temporal offering only temporary storage does not work for our needs.
