We are constantly discussing it. Note that the RCPs are about feedbacks as well as emissions. They are concentration pathways, not emission pathways. RCP8.5 can still occur from a lower emissions scenario if the feedbacks are strong - and we cannot rule that out.

Great article here discussing how climate change will impact flights in New Zealand and around the globe:

I gave a climate change lecture to schoolchildren at the National Gallery in London today.
I have done this every year since 2010.
What's different in 2020 is that — thanks to the amazing @GretaThunberg — this generation is much more informed and engaged than any previous ones! pic.twitter.com/q8Km83W3AB

Don't be so silly! There is no divergence of views. I am talking about the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere, whereas Jennifer is talking about the lower troposphere. Please stop suggesting there's a lack of consensus when there isn't.

Here's one for fellow weather geeks: one year of daily North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) ensemble forecasts compared to observations.
It's mesmerizing to watch and my take-home message is that the forecasts are remarkably good, even 14 days ahead.

Stinging analysis from the Washington Post on business leaders and climate change, citing our research:
"There's even increasing turbulence on flights from climate change that the many private jets landing in Davos can’t avoid."

The jet stream is certainly blowing very fast as part of the high pressure pattern, and it is true that climate change may be speeding up the jet stream at those high altitudes, although large uncertainties remain.
