Call it Weaponized Transparency. The Trump Administration has taken the tobacco industry's nefarious idea to block studies showing smoking killed non-smokers and will now apply it to ALL studies - future EPA regulations will rely only on industry data.
A new agency rule would restrict the science that can be used in drafting health regulations by requiring researchers to turn over confidential health data.

Horrid ongoing process of protecting toxic profiteers by removing harmful evidence. In 2002 GW Bush stopped EPA collection of TRI data & rare exception in my experience to see any US regulators use anything beyond industry's studies. FDA was Bush41->

I’m baffled, what is the problem with requiring that published studies also provide raw data to validate the summarized results? Isn’t transparency a good idea?

I’ve warned that this was the result of the 10/9/19 Executive Order. Most health studies by the federal govt and universities promised confidentiality of data, which means they’ll be excluded because they are “reproducible” using the original data sets. Industry data will rule.

This pretty much ends OSHA and MSHA health standard improvements as well. MSHA will have issues using OSHA’s 2016 scientific data, since many of those studies are now ineligible for consideration under the new EO.
