Rizzo should be careful what he wishes for.

His drafting has been awful. OTOH the Dominican program has been fantastic. Whoever is running the Dominican program should be promoted to oversee the draft also.

Because he wanted a hundred million and scared everyone off. Unrealistic expectations screw up a market.

Put down the bottle. The Phils have one pitcher.

No they aren't. Arb flexes up each year, so they are smoothing out those years. It's a fair risk/reward move.

These pitchers are scared they will blow their arm out and become Matt Harvey or that guy from the Braves who was supposed to be better than Strasburg.

If he didn't have a $200MM payroll, he wouldn't be able to pick up these veteran guys. He'd have to keep Ross/Fedde in the rotation, not sign Rosenthal, not sign Dozier, etc.

Cost $20mm for Sanchez because they didn’t develop Ross/Fedde

They have to be better at their jobs. It’s easier for Rizzo to paper over mistakes (like not developing a pitcher for 5 years) when you have a $200mm budget

Let them eliminate A ball if they can’t afford to run those leagues and pay the players.

They are bringing Erick Fedde back to WPB in style?
