For from my great grandmother's stave church in Hedalen, Norway. Built around 1163, the church is still used as the local parish church. The dragon over the entrance represents leaving behind evil as you enter the church, but of course has ties to Viking myths.

Food and drink during festivities is not only beholden the living; until recently it was common to put down food and drink on ancient burial mounds. This was probably remnants of pagan ancestor worship, as they were called "ættehaug", or family-mound in english

Panettone, the awesome sweet bread from Milan, was allegedly developed by the Duke's falconer & the daughter of a baker. By adding dried fruit at Christmas, it sold like hotcakes and gave the daughter a dowry to marry the falconer!
