He’s just a guy they Hope figures it out so they can flip him for a middling prospect in July

Part of me feels bad that the Raps sacrificed their core to build a mini-superteam, but then I hear people in States talk about Kawhi and KD teaming with the Clippers to take on GS and I realize just how cool it is that Masai built this team.

You’re right. I had no idea he was so monstrous before the trade.

But ultimately, this comp is apples to oranges. Best player on an MLB team can add a handful of wins. Best player on an NBA team is expected to carry the whole team.

Henderson not that season. Donaldson was pretty close (clearly #2 to Trout that year, but close enough to steal the MVP and played very good defense in addition to his crazy offensive production)

Yeah but he was primarily a DH. (Not being in top 10 in WAR reflects that.) I get your point about lots of greats passing through Toronto, but the company Kawhi is getting are ridiculous.

Molitor had a great season - still don’t think he was best in the league. Donaldson and Clemens I’ll give you - but, y’know, roids...

I’m a Jays fan first, and most of those guys were not in their prime with the Jays. Of those that were, only Steib and Halladay were MAYBE comparable.

Kawhi looks good. Too bad the rest of the Raps are still back in Toronto...

I had this as the one game the Raps could “afford” to lose, so I’m not expecting much. Rough start, though.

I wrote about Giannis and Kawhi, and how there's more narrative tension in this series than meets the eye.

Unless Nurse was bothered by Drake's shoulder rub & sideline enthusiasm, no one else should be. Sure, it's probably annoying for opposing team and their fans, but so what, it's supposed to be. Part of being a fan IS trolling opponents
