At 3:15 am, just now, I finished Kristin Lavransdatter. What a novel, one for the ages.

The first thing you'd expect from the plotter of a fascist coup is a directive for the federal government to begin the transition process to his successor. Makes total sense!

Anyhow, stepping back from how much I miss Ogaki, which is a non-zero amount: Shouldn't literally every city everywhere be courting internal migrants in the current economic environment? Why is that cutting edge policy, still!?

In a sign of the times, the city of Ogaki (where I lived for about 10 years) is offering free Zoom calls with city officials for anyone considering (internal) migration to it. They'll answer questions about e.g. childcare, schools, etc, and give you honey for showing up.

requiring voter IDs is disenfranchisement? requiring postmarked envelopes is disenfranchisement? requiring vote checkers to be able to see each ballot is disenfranchisement?

Believe it or not, some people are religious *because* of the very same character trait due to which others think they are atheists: deep skepticism. They may differ upon where that skepticism is most appropriately directed.

Willie Mays had 156 career OPS+. Six times with .600+ SLG, 14 times above .500. Had 16 years above .380 OBP with 7 at .400 or above. 3,283 hits (12th most), 660 HRs, 3rd most bases ever, 7th most runs scored, 3rd best career win probability added. How many were better than him?

I don't endorse Lindsay's take, but I will insist that the burden of proof in infosec is always on the party claiming the system has not been compromised. That's just how it works. And election security is, unfortunately, now an infosec problem. You have the burden backwards.

Odysseus doesn't sit on his couch writing sad-man twitter. He searches for meaning wherever it be found. That thing weighs 400 pounds, the last man to wield it was a king from long ago.
