We really need to get back to this as a country. I am so afraid of what is going to happen next.

This is a story that Judge Jeffrey Sutton shares about an encounter late in my dad's life, when he bought his friend Ruth two dozen roses for her birthday. "Some things in life are more important than votes."

"When I’m sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the supreme court]? And I say ‘When there are nine.’ People are shocked. But there’d been nine men, and nobody’s ever raised a question about that." -Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

This is from a roast he delivered for her 10th anniversary on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. They'd been colleagues on that court until he went to the Supreme Court; she hadn't joined him there yet—and he missed her.

She was so sick for so long but this is still a shock. No matter what you believe politically there is no way not to have the deepest respect for her and all that she accomplished. She leaves behind a tremendous legacy. 🙏🏻

RBG’s friendship with Scalia is one cool thing I will remember about both of them. We need more of this, not less.

I loved the relationship between RBG and Antonin Scalia. Diametrically opposed politically, but found common ground and became devoted friends. She gave the eulogy at his funeral. 🙏🏻

She really fought. For what she believed in and in the last several years, for her life. A true trailblazer. A life well lived. Very sad. RIP 🙏🏻💔💔

💜💜💜 Thanks A. I think I am going to need lots of cheering on from the sidelines this year. 😂😂 It’s been rough. And it is for everybody doing this during this year.
